IRONMAN COURSE RIDE #2 PDF Print E-mail
Written by TriWisconsin Triathlon Club

Join us as we ramp it up and ride the FULL IRONMAN WI COURSE!  July 31st Saturday.  Perfect timing for all the folks competing in this year's Ironman and a great and fun training ride for those looking for a nice ride.

We'll start in the parking lot at Olin-Turville Park again.  There's plenty of free parking and it's easy to find.  Try to get there by 6:45 so we can start promptly at 7:00am.  Seems early but it's a long day.

We will have several groups based on ability.  Course maps and que sheets will be available.  Please check your tires and other equipment to make sure everything's in good shape. We will have any SAG support for major mechanical issues.  Be prepared to fix your flats (just like the race).

After the ride, there's a nice trail in the park for an optional short run so don't forget your running shoes!

How to get to Olin-Turville Park:
Take I-94 West to I-90 South to Hwy 12/18 West (the beltway).
Exit at John Nolan Drive.  The park will be less than a mile on your right. It's the first park lot after the Sheraton hotel on the right.

Optional Carpool
If you'd like to carpool or caravan out to the Park, be at the Hwy G (Golf Rd) Park&Ride off of I-94 West NO LATER THAN 5:30AM !

Top 10 things to remember during IRONMAN COURSE (and every other) RIDE.

  1. Safety First.  If you are in doubt, error towards the safer bet.
  2. Be prepared and adapt to what the day gives you
  3. Be polite with fellow riders and motorists.  A friendly smile goes a long way
  4. Look motorists in the eye.  Dont expect them to see you at an intersection.
  5. Be courteous and learn the rules of the road for cycling.
  6. Look out for each other.
  7. Dont leave anything behind.  That means NO TRASH.  carry your gel packs back to the car.
  8. Know your route..or carry a map.  http://www.ironmanwisconsin.com/course.php
  9. Carry a Cellphone for emergency
  10. Enjoy the day.

Thursday Beginner's Ride Starts May 7th PDF Print E-mail
Written by TriWisconsin Triathlon Club

What’s this? A ride without the pressure of everyone leaving you in the dust?

Yes! Join your fellow TriWis teammates for a more casual ride through one of two different parks. No pressure here. You won’t be dropped and there’ll be very experienced ride leaders to help you along the way. They’ll answer all your questions about triathlons and give riding tips along the way. Distances will vary (about 10-12 miles to start) and increase as the summer goes along. This will be a great way to learn how to ride in a group.

When: Thursdays at 6:00pm

Where: Alternating between Hansen Park clubhouse lot (part of Underwood Park and same as hill workouts and near our kickoff meeting) and Lake Park Bistro parking lot on the fashionable East Side.  For details, view the Triwisconsin calendar, or click here.
