TriWisconsin End of the Year Party! PDF Print E-mail
Written by TriWisconsin Triathlon Club

Please join us on Friday, November 21st from 6-9pm for our End of the Year Party at Stein Hall at the Miller Inn.  We will open elections for the 2009 board so you are highly encouraged to come and cast your vote. We will also have an area set up to register for 2009 membership!

PARKING! PARKING PARKING!  Due to road construction, parking situtation is controlled.

But don't worry - there will be plenty of fun and games as well!  Every person who is age 21 or older will be able to receive a wristband good for 3 complimentary beers from Miller. You must bring an ID if you want to drink beer.  Miller is being kind of enough to host this event, so please respect their rules.  Complimentary soft drinks will be available for those who do not wish to drink.

Bring your wallet as well,  as there are still uniforms for purchase AND wristbands will be for sale at a discounted rate to members for the upcoming Great Lakes Multi-Sport & Running Expo which is being held Jan 31-Feb 1.

There will be a brewery tour at 5pm, please rsvp Robin Treder at robint@bvk.com! These tour rsvp's must be requested no later than November 14th so we can provide a headcount to Miller.

Petit Center Runs Start November 5 PDF Print E-mail
Written by TriWisconsin Triathlon Club

At long last, the Petit Center run has returned, starting November 5th!!

Every Wednesday (starting November 5th) we meet up in the lobby of the Petit Ice Center (500 South 84th Street) - be ready to run by 6:00pm.  The run consists of an out and back course along the Honey Creek Parkway.  We'll probably start of running 30-40 minutes, but as the year progresses people will build up to 50-60 minutes.  If you've never run the course before, be sure to let people know before hand so we'll make sure you have directions or a running buddy.

Please wear reflective clothing and/or lights - it gets dark out there.   If the Wisconsin winter is too cold for you (or the roads are icy), you can also run on the indoor track inside the Petit (admission to the track is $3.00, or purchase a 10-pack coupon book for $27.00).

Click here for directions to the Petit.

2009 Officers Election PDF Print E-mail
Written by TriWisconsin Triathlon Club

Nope, not that election.  Ours is much more simpler.  Or is it?!

The 2008 TriWisconsin Officers election is currently under way.  Nominations are now open for all positions.  Unlike the previous years, you do not need to nominate for a particular position.  The mechanics of the election this year, as allowed by the ammended bylaws in 2007,  calls for electing 7 officials.  Once the general membership has voted the top 7 will convene to decide between themselves who gets the titles (pres, vice pres, secretary, treasurer, directors).

The nominees for 2009 Board Officers are as follow (in Alphabetical order). You will receive a ballot at the 2008 End-Of-Year party that you must cast before the days end.

Joel Aziere

Cole Braun

Al De Leon

Mike Karbouski

Peter Kazaks

Ted Shue

Kelly Steinberg

Robin Treder

November:  The election will be held at the EOY party.

mid-November: Announcement of the winners .

early December:  Board meeting includes both 2008 and 2009 officers.

What do officers do?!  We do a ton...a lot of organizational skills would come in handy if you plan on being an elected TriWisconsin officer.

How to Change a Clincher Flat Tire PDF Print E-mail
Written by TriWisconsin Triathlon Club

There is always the time tested way of always riding with someone who wants to show off.  If you start noticing a flat, casually mention to your riding partner that you can change a tire in less than 3 minutes.  Your partner will undoubtledly say "That's slow, I can do it under 2 minutes!"  At this point, all of a sudden pretend to realize that you have a flat.  "Darn! What do you know, I have a flat...can you really change a flat under 2 minutes?  I can set my watch timer.  Care to prove yourself?"

Always worked....that or carry a cell phone.

But really you should know how to change a tire.  We found this video on YouTube courtesy of Mach3multisport.
